AHF Presents: Artist Gabor Szabo |
The Hungarian-born American artist Gabor Szabo immigrated to the United States just around the end of the cold war. Gabor’s childhood passion for drawing has evolved into the thought-provoking subject matter of his work that occasionally reflects his perception of today’s society. By taking on the role of a rebel, he often questions the sense and purpose behind the social structure and media hype. Every so often he illustrates the mutation of our primeval spiritualism into the modern world’s complex and superficially composed architecture. His paintings are communicating through a lucid dreamlike experience by marrying symbolism with Gabor’s version of Dalian surrealism. The newest addition to his American Patriotic Series is titled Tribute to Civil Rights. Featuring President Obama and Martin Luther King Jr., this 6’x11’ painting symbolizes the transformation of THE DREAM into REALITY by utilizing both two and three dimensional spaces. The traditional painting technique along with modern composition is carefully joined to touch the spirit of many generations. The artist said, "It is great to see that we live in a society where one person’s dream can become a nation’s reality. Although there is still room for improvement, there is a need to pay tribute to those who have helped us the get this far and the movement that has paved the way for not only minority groups but also for immigrants who come to this nation to pursue their dreams like the way I did when I was a young adult." | Come to the Exhibition entitled, "Lucid Dreams," featuring paintings by Gabor Szabo!
