The oldest students of Boskola started off over 15 years ago, as babies and toddlers attending "Kuckó," (trans. The Nook) the Hungarian children's playgroup. This group, now all grown up, formed the nucleus of Boskola, the Bartók Béla Hungarian School of Boston that is supported and governed by the Hungarian Society of Massachusetts (HSM). In 2009-10 the school boasts a student body of over 100 students ranging in age from 3 to 18 served by 15 teachers in 10 groups. It is known affectionately as BOSKOLA (BOstoni osKOLA) and it is represented by a sweet hedgehog logo. The largest Hungarian-American umbrella organization in the United States, AHF is also among the oldest ethnic organizations in the country. AHF was established as an association of Hungarian societies, institutions and churches to "defend the interest of Americans of Hungarian origin in the United States."
